You Don't Have to Figure This Out Alone
If you're struggling with anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, or a painful relationship with food and your body, you're not broken, and you're not alone. Eating disorders are serious mental health conditions that affect people of all ages, genders, and body sizes. And they are treatable.
I offer specialized eating disorder therapy in Ottawa, in person and virtually across Ontario, in English and French. My approach is warm, evidence-based, and deeply personal because this work matters to me beyond just the clinical.
Who I Work With
I work with teens and adults navigating a range of eating disorders and disordered eating patterns, including:
- Anorexia nervosa
- Bulimia nervosa
- Binge eating disorder
- Disordered eating and negative body image
- Emotional eating and difficult relationships with food
You don't need to have a formal diagnosis to reach out. If food and your body are taking up more mental space than you'd like, that's enough of a reason to talk.
How I Work. The CBT-E Approach
I use Enhanced Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT-E), the gold standard evidence-based treatment for eating disorders. CBT-E typically runs about 20 sessions and works by helping you understand the thoughts, feelings, and patterns that maintain the eating disorder and gradually loosen their grip.
But before any of that, we build a relationship. The first sessions are about understanding you and your eating disorder specifically, what function it serves, what keeps it going, and what you actually want your life to look like. You are not your eating disorder. One of the most powerful shifts I see in clients is when they start to see it as something separate from themselves, something that can be examined, challenged, and changed.
Treatment works best as a team effort. I work collaboratively with dietitians and physicians when appropriate, always with your consent and with your confidentiality protected.
