How I Work With You

This is your sub-headline

I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. Every person who walks through my door, or joins me virtually, brings a unique set of experiences, challenges, and goals. I draw from several evidence-based modalities and adapt my approach to what actually fits you, not the other way around.

Therapeutic Approaches

CBT is one of the most well-researched approaches in psychotherapy. It works by exploring the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours and identifying patterns that may be keeping you stuck. Together we work to shift unhelpful thinking patterns and build more effective ways of responding to life's challenges. CBT is structured, goal-oriented, and highly adaptable to a wide range of concerns including anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem.

DBT was originally developed for people who experience emotions very intensely, and has since been shown effective for a wide range of challenges. It focuses on four core skill areas: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. DBT is particularly helpful for people who feel overwhelmed by their emotions or struggle with impulsivity, self-destructive patterns, or relationship difficulties.

CBT-E is the gold standard evidence-based treatment specifically designed for eating disorders. It's a transdiagnostic approach, meaning it works across anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating disorder, and typically runs about 20 sessions. CBT-E goes beyond food and weight to address the deeper thoughts, feelings, and behaviours that maintain the eating disorder, helping you gradually build a healthier relationship with food and your body.

EFT is rooted in attachment theory and focuses on understanding and reshaping emotional responses. It helps you identify the deeper feelings underneath surface reactions, and develop a more secure, compassionate relationship with yourself and others. EFT is particularly effective for people navigating relationship difficulties, grief, trauma, or a deep sense of disconnection.

At the core of everything I do is a client-centred philosophy. This means you are the expert on your own life, my role is to create a space where you feel genuinely heard, respected, and supported without judgment. I follow your lead, honour your pace, and trust that you have the inner resources to grow and heal. Client-centred principles run through every approach I use.

For children ages 7 and up, I use play-informed approaches that meet kids where they are developmentally. Play is how children naturally process their experiences, express emotions, and make sense of the world around them. Through creative activities, drawing, games, and storytelling, I help children explore difficult feelings and build coping skills in a way that feels safe and age-appropriate, not clinical or intimidating.

Not Sure Which Approach Is Right for You?

That's completely normal, most people aren't. That's what the first session is for.
